Melissa Squire, owner of Alchemy Collective and designer extraordinaire, has an eye for the eccentric, creative, and the eye-catching. Beginning designing accessories in 2003, and clothing in 2008, she opened up her own shop in 2010 – one that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and versatility. With about 90% of her creations being custom work, Melissa Squire is ready for whatever design ideas you throw at her, including wanting special event outfits, such as wedding/grad dresses, to be able to be worn again (she’s worn her own wedding dress multiple times!), to have your garment/accessory be eco-conscious, using recycled parts where possible, or wanting a design that’s a little more funky or offbeat!
If you’re keen on anything pin-up, rockabilly, or steampunk related, Melissa is your gal. Every time I see one of her pieces, I instantly want to put my hair into victory rolls! With Melissa Squire Fashion Deisgn, custom is customary, and extraordinary is expected. Whatever your design dream is, Melissa is ready and willing to turn it into a reality.
Heavily involved in local fashion productions (re: Not Your Average Bridal Show), as well as community-oriented events such as Pride, Melissa is eager to participate in SFDF once again this year! When reflecting on the upcoming SFDF show, Melissa says: “I have been involved with SFDF since the beginning, they put on great quality shows and I enjoy being involved in the Sask Fashion Scene. It’s also nice to do a show that I am not producing myself occasionally!
I am looking forward to seeing the new designers involved in the show this year and showing my new collection. Hoping to introduce my new line as well, just breaking in to the maternity wear scene, the new line is called Badass Mama!!”
