Melissa Squire is a self taught fashion designer whose socially conscious attitude, eco friendly initiatives and community oriented business practices are infectious. For over 16 years her badass pretty designs have been showcased on runways locally and internationally, but her main focus is on her custom work, which includes unique wedding and formal attire. She loves working with clients of all ages, shapes, sizes and genders to create pieces that highlight their natural beauty and instil confidence and body positivity.

During Covid, I started sewing aprons for family members. When my husband requested a leather apron, I completely fell in love with leatherwork! I then designed a crossbody/fanny pack purse and sold a few on my Facebook Page. I have since made different styles of leather bags, accessories, bib dresses and skirts.

Sheila Schmutz, Wear Our Heritage

Sheila designs and creates wool hats, capes and jackets that are trimmed with natural wild Canadian fur in support of our northern peoples. She has an online shop but sells primarily through juried artisan and craft shows in Saskatchewan. Her motto and brand is “Wear Our Heritage”.

JoAnne Angalot, Jangalot Studio

Growing up wearing hand-me-downs from my sister, I learned to creatively personalize each piece, a skill I now use to design sustainable garments and accessories. I fuse that creativity with my knowledge and experience over the years to create fun pieces from mainly rescued or recycled fabrics and materials, offering eco-friendly alternatives with different colours and patterns.

I used my experience as an athlete to guide us in those early days, because I didn't know a whole lot about designing clothes. But I did know what I wanted to wear and how it should fit and perform. Thus "Designed by Athletes for Athletes". MEE Sports started life as a basement operation that in the last 36 years has grown into a diversified sportswear company using cutting edge technology to produce trendy custom team apparel sold around the world.

Mandy Pravda, owner of Mane Productions since 2009, focuses on community initiatives, charitable fundraising, marketing and economic building opportunities. Notably 2013 Toronto’s National Meeting + Incentive Travel Magazine Hall of Fame “20 Something Entrepreneur of Canada” and winner of a Saskatchewan Tourism 2019 Awards of Excellent, a YWCA Women of Distinction Award 2023 Nominee, to name a few.
