PARKLUXE 2015 comes to Saskatoon this Saturday, November 7th. An event not to be missed, featuring designers that span the country, PARKLUXE is expected to be an evening of fine fashion and taste. This is the second production in Saskatoon by PARK, a volunteer run organization based in Calgary.
“At PARK, we aspire to promote and educate local artists and fashion designers through a variety of annual workshops, fashion shows, and sales opportunities. We are a socially conscious, primarily volunteer-run organization based in Calgary, Canada, and every single one of us believes in keeping local talent at home. Our mission is to help turn Calgary into a cultural phenomenon, one of the world’s art capitals, and one of the future’s fashion hot spots.”
MEET THE DESIGNERS OF PARKLUXE SASKATOON
Travis Taddeo
TRAVIS TADDEO has gained a loyal following among fashion risk-takers by pushing and overcoming the conventional expectations established for Canadian fashion design. Known for his combination of minimal lines and distinctive blends of silk, jersey, leather and fur, Taddeo offers simplicity with edge by creating a bold marriage between luxury and street-wear.
Rebecca King
Rebecca King's label, launched in Saskatoon in 2005, focuses on tailored women’s coats and casual wear. In an industry dominated by overseas production, Rebecca strives to maintain a strong local presence in Canadian fashion. Much of Rebecca’s inspiration comes from 18th century men’s attire. Her favorite looks combine these elements with modern silhouettes for a look that is both classic and edgy.
Anneke Forbes
Designer Anneke Forbes personally creates made-to-measure outerwear for women in her Calgary workroom. Every jacket is offered in both a trend-focused colour and a seasonless neutral with thoughtful finishings that excite those who covet quality. Anneke offers an understated, polished, and feminine aesthetic that keeps Canadian women both cozy and eye-catching.
House of Nonie
Launched in the fall of 2008, Calgary-based House of Nonie received great acclaim from the Canadian fashion industry. After taking a break to focus on family, House of Nonie's Nina Kharey is back with a new Autumn/Winter 2015 lineup. Inspired by the simple, clean lines of men's suitwear, and designed under the mentorship of Holt Renfrew's Fashion Director Barbara Atkin, House of Nonie brings a collection of bold and modern design to PARKLUXE 2015.
